About Main & Company

Main & Company was founded in June 1952, and has been in continuous operation by the founding family and proprietorship employees.  All of the principals are actively engaged in the operation of the business.

Main & Company is a manufacturer performing production machining on a contract basis, primarily for the aerospace and other high precision industries.  The majority of parts produced have been exacting in detailed requirements calling for highly skilled labor, good equipment and ingenious processing methods.

Parts have been produced from a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials, forgings, castings and bar stock.  We have produced parts ranging in size from twelve inch diameter castings weighing eighty pounds each to small parts as would be used in a pocket watch.  A large percentage of our parts have been used for aircraft, missile, submarine, spacecraft, medical and scientific laboratory applications.

Our facility is located in Jackson, Michigan and consists of approximately 12,500 sq. ft. of modern manufacturing and office space.  Over the years, our business has modestly but strategically grown to its current size.

Our management team has a wide range of experience in engineering, procurement, process planning, machinability and hands on production of high tolerance parts and assemblies.  We are familiar with processing details and certification requirements usually specified in Army-Navy-Government procurement specifications.

We have consistently updated our machine technology by incorporating CNC Turning and Machining equipment throughout the shop and, through the years, have gained considerable experience in the machining of most aluminum and stainless steel grades, as well as high temp or nickel alloys such as Inconel and Titanium.

We have become specialists at machining small forgings and castings through our development of unusual and unique methods of chucking or work holding of intricate shapes during machining.
